Castlehill
Sat atop the hill overlooking Tullich Loch Fishery near Ballater, Castlehill is a new build property that embraces symmetry and minimalism.
A minimalist design relies on a balance between the overall design concept and the chosen material palette. Castlehill achieves this through intentional restrictions in the design philosophy - repetition and two main materials - timber cladding and profiled metal roof sheeting.
Repetition has been further refined by cladding the building in a repeating pattern of small, medium, and large pre-treated timber boarding to ensure a uniform weathered appearance. The layering of patterns, seen only up close, allows for a design to showcase the subtle levels of detail that can be achieved.
The internal layout places most of the bedrooms on the ground floor and the primary living spaces and master bedroom on the first floor. Such a layout elevates the living spaces to take advantage of the outstanding views towards the distant mountains.
